Our goal is to provide sufficient and safe tap water for drinking, cooking and other domestic purpose to all households in Rural Bihar, to execute Water Security Planning and promotion to eco-friendly & sustainable technology in drinking water sector and ensure water Supply and Sanitation facility management during natural disaster, public affairs.
Based on water quality test carried so far quality problems are :
Arsenic
As per GoI IMIS, 1077 habitations (more than 0.01 mg/lit) in 13 districts Most of them adjoining Ganges river. (Buxar, Bhojpur, Patna, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Munger, Lakhisarai, Khagaria, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Katihar and Darbhanga)
Fluoride
As per GoI IMIS, 1093 habitations are having excess Fluoride ( more than 1.5 mg/l) in 11 districts; most of them bordering Jharkhand (Aurangabad, Banka, Bhabhua, Gaya, Jamui, Nawada, Nalanda, Rohtas, Munger, Sheikhpura and Bhagalpur)
Iron
As per GoI IMIS, 2712 habitations are having excess Iron (more than 1 mg/li) in 9 districts of north eastern part of state viz. Purnia, Kisanganj, Araria, Katihar, Saharsa, Supaul, Madhepura, Khagaria and Begusarai.
38 district level laboratories in each of the districts of Bihar have been established to facilitate water quality analysis. The laboratories are equipped with different sophisticated instruments and facilities for testing different water quality parameters.
